Reports say that 80% (or more) of your time as a leader can be taken up dealing with a low-performing team member. It can be frustrating and in fact, I’ve been called many times by leaders who have had enough and now they are ready to fire their low performer.
This is just one of the simple tools that I help leaders to use.
Your low performer may need to go, but not before you are sure that you have done all that you can do. Your job as the leader is to set each team member up for success. And, YES, even your low performers.
It doesn’t matter how your low performer got there. As the leader, you own doing all you can do. Today’s podcast is about how to know that you have done all that you can do.
Here are some of the highlights from this episode.
- I explain why I often get called in by leaders before they fire a low performer.
- I share the 6 factors that I ask leaders about to confirm they have done all that they can do.

Thank you for listening to The Authentic Leader Show Podcast.
I look forward to hearing from you. Until then, remember, you don’t need to be a leader of leaders. Just be the leader others want to follow. Be, an Authentic Leader.
