Hey there, I’m Chris.

What I do

I help leaders create high performers. I specialize in helping leaders to lead without a title, follow through on commitments, and create time to spend on the most important and highest value activities. I am an accomplished leadership and performance expert helping leaders create high performers in their organization through workshops, training programs, group facilitation, and consulting.

Why Listen to Me?

For the past three decades, I have helped leaders and leadership groups at companies like Reed Elsevier’s LexisNexis, MeadWestvaco, and the University of Dayton’s Center for Leadership and Executive Development. In addition, I have provided seminars for the Virginia Association of Volunteer Rescue Squads and led non-profit boards through capital campaigns for a new state-of-the-art library and a community economic development war chest.

In 2012, I left my corporate career to form Authentic Leader™ to help leaders create high performers in their organization.

The Authentic Interview™ is a monthly lunch program where each month I interview CEOs, Executive Directors, Politicians, and even local celebrities.

What Else Do I Do

I am on the boards of the Richmond Christian Leadership Initiative and the Chesterfield Chamber of Commerce.

When I’m not interviewing leaders, facilitating workshops and consulting with leaders, I can be found spending time with my wife of 27 years and kids (one college graduate and twins in college).

I also spend time outdoors biking, kayaking, hiking, and training for my next race (I’ve finished two half-marathons). Some of my favorite travel locations have been Paris, Brazil, New York, San Diego, and Las Vegas.

I also listen to more podcasts than just about anyone else I know.

Even More

If you are dying to know more, here are five things you may be surprised to know about me.

  1. I once had a conversation with Stephen Covey (a rock star in my industry).
  2. Bright sunsets will cause me to stop and gaze. Sometimes I add them to my Instagram account.
  3. I played tuba in the lead band of the 1982 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. (That’s me at the tip of the orange arrow in the photos to the right.)
  4. I love Star Wars movies (even The Last Jedi).
  5. I like Taylor Swift and her music. There, . . . I said it.
